Love Thy Neighbor: Standing Against Christian Nationalism

The Christianity I Was Taught vs. The Christianity They Preach

I grew up understanding the core message of Christianity: love thy neighbor.

I remember Sunday school lessons about feeding the hungry, about casting no stones, about showing compassion even to those we don’t understand.

I understand why it was a miracle when Jesus fed thousands with loaves and fishes—it wasn’t just about the food.

It was about showing that no one should go without when we have the ability to help.

It was about leading with kindness, not judgment.

But somewhere along the way, a different version of Christianity took root.

A version that forgot about the loaves and fishes and instead became obsessed with who is worthy of food in the first place.

A version that turned 'love thy neighbor' into 'love thy neighbor—but only if they look, speak, and believe like you.'

And now, in today’s climate, our neighbors are being raided to check where they were born.

Our neighbors are being denied basic human rights because they don’t fit into a narrow mold of who deserves help.

The Christian Nationalist movement has twisted faith into a weapon for control—consolidating power instead of spreading love.

The Reality: What Christian Nationalism Is Really About

Christian Nationalists want you to believe they are fighting for faith, but they are really fighting for power.

They claim they are defending religious freedom—but what they are really pushing is a theocratic rule that benefits the powerful few at the expense of the many.

📌 Christian Nationalists want to criminalize abortion—but won’t fight for maternal healthcare.
📌 They want prayer in schools—but only if it’s their prayer.
📌 They claim to follow Christ—but reject the very people he spent his life defending.

"The Bible says that we are to occupy until He comes, that means dominate. We are called to govern."
— Paula White, Christian Nationalist preacher & former spiritual advisor to Trump

This isn’t faith. This isn’t morality. This is a political movement disguised as religion—and it’s time we call it what it is.

Who Can Stop It? (Spoiler: It’s Not Just Non-Religious People)
The truth is, this fight isn’t just for non-believers. In fact, many traditional Christians are just as horrified by Christian Nationalism as humanists are. We need to recognize who is really on our side:

Traditional Christians who truly believe in love, compassion, and charity over political power.
Closeted Humanists—people who live by humanist values but may not even realize there’s a name for it.
Anyone who believes morality is about helping people, not controlling them.

"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?"
— 1 John 3:17 (NIV)

This fight is not Christian vs. Non-Christian—it’s power vs. compassion.

How to Take Action – What You Can Do Right Now

Christian Nationalism thrives on misinformation, fear, and silence. Here’s how we fight back:

📌 Challenge the narrative. When someone claims America was founded as a Christian nation, ask them to prove it. (Spoiler: They can’t.)

📌 Vote for policies, not religions. Support candidates who believe in equality and real freedom—not just religious rule.

📌 Support community-driven action. Faith-based and secular organizations alike do the real work of feeding the hungry and caring for the sick—Christian Nationalists do not.

📌 Speak up in everyday conversations. When you hear misinformation—whether at work, the grocery store, or Thanksgiving dinner—say something.

"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge."
— Bertrand Russell, Humanist Philosopher

This isn’t about politics. It’s about morality.

The Call to Action: Choosing Love Over Power

We are better together—united in love and compassion—than we will ever be under the rule of those who seek power in the name of faith.

The Christian Nationalist movement is not about loving thy neighbor.

It is about hoarding power, pushing division, and consolidating wealth.

Now is the time to step up.

To challenge their narrative.

To fight for what is actually right.

To remind the world what love really looks like.

Because if your faith tells you to turn your back on the hungry, the sick, and the poor—it’s not faith. It’s control.

Stay Curious. Stay Human. And Always, Be Kind.
